Pet Words of wisdom #2

A pet's ten commandments....

1. My life is likely to last 10 to 15 years. Any separation from you is likely to be painful.

2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.

3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being.

4. Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainment, but I have only you.

5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I do understand your voice when speaking to me.

6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it.

7. Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember that I could hurt you, and yet, I choose not to bite you.

8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I have been in the sun too long, or my heart might be getting old or weak.

9. Please take care of me when I get old. You too, will grow old.

10. On the ultimate dificult journey, go with me please. Never say you can't bear to watch. Don't make me face this alone. Everything is easier for me if you are there, because I love you so.

Take a moment today to thank God for your pets. Enjoy and take good care of them. Life would be a much duller, less joyful experience without God's critters.

Dogs Just Want To Have Fun

My dog loves to be praised and admired. I'd say she was an attention hound.

So, the other day she looks at me and says she is feeling a little dull and boring and wants something to liven things up a bit. According to her, it has been awhile since anyone made a really big deal out of her.

Well, I don't know about that, but I was willing to try to help the poor girl out. So, I made her a couple of dresses and sure enough she is now the talk of the neighborhood. She feels like the queen of the block again.

Not Your Average Dog Bed

Somewhere in your attic there might be an old suitcase that can be turned into a dog bed. Not the modern soft suitcase; but the old fashioned ones that are hard and boxy.

Take four wooden legs (like you find on a couch) and attach them to the bottom of the suitcase.

Now add an old pillow from your bed to make it nice and soft for your little pooch. Added bonus: the pillow smells like you which makes the dog feel like he's sleeping in your bed. Using a pillow case will help to keep the 'mattress' cleaner. Wash the case once a week or so. Sprinkle some flea powder inside the pillow case.

Use the pocket in the lid for storing doggie toys in. Be sure to anchor the lid in such a way that it doesn't fall on your dog. Or remove the lid all together.

Bagel Yum Yums

When shopping for bagels buy enough for your dog to have some, too. Yes! It's true.

Let the bagels become rock hard in their staleness and then give them to your dog. He will love you for it.

They are chewy and give him some quality gnawing, and you know how he loves to chew and gnaw on things.

It's good for his teeth and gums. Keeps him from being bored when you're not there to entertain him.
